Recently there were some posts extolling the annoyances of blogging. While I can certainly understand where those bloggers, who are also readers, are coming from in their declarations, I also tend to think that they are forgetting exactly WHY they read personal blogs to begin with.
Make absolutely no mistake about it. Having spent the majority of the summer in the “other” blogosphere, allow me to assure you that there is a definite difference between personal blogs and the rest of the blogosphere. So here are 5 Things I 
About Personal Blogging:

Blogger Creativity- I the fact that personal bloggers are creative enough to become whatever they want. While portraying yourself as a superheroine, a circus freak, a party animal, or about nothing it is a view into your creative side, a glance upon your dreams, and quite possibly more telling than anything you can write in a thousand posts
• I Personal Blogger Writing- Personal bloggers have the skill to write with color. This creates not just a two dimensional drawing in the reader’s mind, but a virtual experience without the hassle of plugging your brain into The Matrix… because not for nuthin’ but that’s one long ass needle they stick into you
• I Personal Blogger Variety- The fact that there can be Conservative Republicans, Liberal Democrats, and Fierce Independents together in one place is a pretty amazing feat. What’s even more amazing is no one physically dies at the hands of a death panel!!! Sure there is the exchange of ideas, some intense debate, but in the end ice cream makes it all better.
• I Personal Blogger Honesty- Personal Bloggers, and some not so personal, are probably the most honest type of blogger out there. They aren’t just honest about their own trials and tribulations, but they’re also the first to offer a differing opinion and to tell you that you’re smoking crack after you put that pipe down… making them a true friend
• I Personal Blogger Passion- Personal bloggers are by far the most passionate of the lot. Sure some bloggers may be passionate about television, shopping, celebrities with babies or the entire social media landscape… but they all still pale in comparison to a truly personal blogger whose passion will ignite you long after they may be gone themselves…
So yeah… that’s why I love personal blogging. Did I mention I met BGITW because of it? Well I did!
I’d have to assume that if you’re reading this, well there’s something you like about it too… so what is it? What is it about personal blogging that appeals to you???
So apparently I’ve been ignoring my blog. Well, the truth is I haven’t been ignoring it… or you for that matter… I’ve just been busy with work and two other projects. I know, ultimately, it’s not really a valid excuse… or really an excuse… but its the truth. So I decided that for twenty minutes I’ll come clean with some of the things I’ve been doing in the form of bullets for the sake of LeSombre:
- • So one of the projects I have on the side led me to collaborate with someone I’ve never met in person on another project, hence the double side projects. Collaboration in general can be both rewarding and frustrating. It’s rewarding because you get someone else’s perspective and contributions that improve on your own. It can be frustrating because at 4:00am when you have an idea you want to test out… well you generally have to wait for them to get back to you with their ideas on it. All in all though, it’s been far more rewarding than frustrating.
• My original side project has also progressed relatively nicely in helping me establish myself as an authority in my field. In fact, had it not been for the original project the second project never would have happened, and I probably would also not have been interviewed by one of the leading trade publications for the industry. So good things have come from that for sure.
• Poppy and I got to go see Monster Trucks!!! So yeah, I did make the time to go see Monster Trucks… but I mean… c’mon… they’re MONSTER TRUCKS!!! My personal favorite was Spike. Surprised? I thought not. Sadly though, as Poppy pointed out, Spike rolled over during his freestyle performance. His driver not only walked away unharmed, but he was able to drive Spike off the field once they had flipped him back over. Luckily, Spike‘s big brother Brutus was on hand! AND he was ORANGE!!! WooT!!! WooT!!!
• Did I mention I have the greatest girlfriend in the world? No? Well I do dammit. Not only does she take me Monster Trucking, but when my bank fails to make a transfer as instructed and I end up getting hit with overdraft fees… she buys me my large french vanilla ice coffee that is light with cream and four Splendas… even though I completely gave Ripples a monk haircut. Literally. She looks like a monk with her top shaved and her bottom all furry. I told GGITW to put pictures up, but we think that may ruin my future chances as a pet groomer when the other stuff doesn’t work out. We just can’t take that chance. That and we really don’t want the Humane Society coming for the kitty either.
• This past weekend I got to see G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra! We were originally supposed to see G-Force, but I unknowingly got swapped for a bunch of 9 year olds and Build-A-Bears by Blinky… so G.I. Joe it was! Now I’ll be honest, I was a big fan as a kid of both the comics, cartoon, and the toys. So the fact that after all these years these characters were being brought to life… and for the most part with their origins intact… was really thrilling. It was action packed, fast moving, and even the Accelerator Suits that looked really pathetic didn’t come out as bad as I had originally thought. The fact the Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow storyline remained true to canon was a huge win for me… so I could easily overlook the bullshit Ripcord/Scarlett romance (because we all KNOW she only has eyes for Snake!) and the sad Baroness/Duke connection was also easily overlooked. The sole WTF?!?! moment was when Dr. Mindbender turned out to not actually be Dr. Mindbender, but if I say anymore it would probably spoil it… so let’s just say who he turns out to actually be is the WTF?!?! moment. Overall, a good flick… and even Avitable agrees… so you know it must be true!
And finally…
- • I’ll save the last bullet for when the insanity comes… or LeSombre… or Swaghore’10… whichever comes first…
Hhhmmm. I actually did have a lot to say. I didn’t realize I still had it in me…
After reading Avitable‘s post about his 5-year Blogiversary I felt suddenly very shameful for my lack’o’posting. I also didn’t answer his question about what I like best about blogging because I really have no desire for an iPod Touch… and I needed something for these bullets:
• I like the diversity of the people behind the blogs - I like the fact that I get exposed to different points of view than I may normally be exposed to. Even though I live in one of the most diverse cities on the planet… it’s still nice to get the point of view from outside of that geographical sphere. This also makes going to blogger events like TequilaCon and Avitaween alot of fun… because even though you are amongst a diverse group that you may only have one or two things in common with… you realize that you’re really not all that different as you may have previously believed.
• I like the writing on the blogs - As an aspiring writer I think one of the best ways to improve on my writing is to read others. Additionally… and I’m being completely honest here… its easier to read than to write.
• I like the photos on the blogs - Being a very visual person… I like to look at pictures. A lot. I think there are some incredibly talented photobloggers out there and I think that there are still more to find.
• I like the activism the blogs inspire - Unless you’ve been living under a rock you may have heard that last week’s Iranian Elections didn’t turn out the way people wanted. The crack smoking holocaust denier got re-elected… supposedly. However there is shadiness and the Iranians are speaking out. So as a way to show your support for them you can change your Twitter Avatar green. Sure its your Twitter Avatar instead of your blog… but most of those using Twitter that I follow are bloggers… so its kinda like the same thing.
• I like the virtual perpetual nature of the blogs - What I blog today is here tomorrow… and the day after that… and the day after that… and so one. As long as I pay for hosting and renew my domain name (two things I did just last month) that is. Of course I might live on in search engines a bit longer but if I decide to use a service… well it could be there perpetually. I suppose that’s always been one of the things about blogs that I like… it’s a way to be remembered after you’re gone.
• I like to save the last bullet LeSombre style for when I lose internet
