Banned Breed Takes A Stand For America
I have a new hero. I’m really not into all the political stuff like some other bloggers, although I do often feel the need to make my opinion known. I’m much more of a dramatic type of person. Never the less I have been reading and watching all the hoopla over the Immigration Legislation and the Mexicans.

Raine made a FANTASTIC post on this subject over at Banned Breed: Taking A Stand For America which I think sums up the way I myself feel about it, especially the quote from Theodore Roosevelt.

Seeing as how she said everything I wanted to say, and probably said it better, well I’ll leave it alone.

The one and only thing I would add is that HBO really should stop showing the movie Walkout. Now I know it has nothing to do with immigration, but I can’t help but feel it is helping to incite high school students who really should be concentrating on getting an education instead of walking out on it and flipping flags on poles to insult the taxpayers who are paying for it.

When was the last time an illegal immigrant paid school tax? I didn’t think so…

WrestleMania XXII
I don’t want everyone to think I over gourged myself on the blogosphere so much on Saturday that I was out of commission Sunday. That wasn’t the case. Sunday was Wrestlemania XXII (22) in Chicago for those of you who have actual lives and don’t follow the WWE.

So we had the pre-requisite four foot sandwhich, potato salad, chips, dip, and copious amounts of soda. Wrestling seems to be the only thing left my father and I can share in common without one of us raising our voices against the other.

The card itself, while not the greatest, was interesting enough. Sure John Cena fought the King of Kings Triple H and defended the belt, and of course Ray Mysterio won the title in the Triple Threat match by pinning Randy Orton while Kurt Angle was on the outside. Did anyone expect different? I sure didn’t. Mysterio had dedicated his match to the late Eddie Guerrero which guaranteed him a win and set-up the next PPV Backlash. John Cena needed to win to confirm his status as a champion of the working class. The two matches that I really wanted to see, and a little surprised at one of the endings, was Mick Foley against Edge and The Undertaker against Mark Henry.

The Undertaker and Mark Henry was a great match. Once again, The Undertaker’s entrance was astounding. I distinctly remember watching WrestleMania XX at MSG from the catwalk while working the medical when the lights went out before his entrance. Then in the dark a bunch of people seemed to rush by me and someone quite large stood in front of me. As the druids came out I moved a bit to see and the figure in front turned around. It was the wrestler Bubba Dudley, and he said to me, “I can’t watch this on the tv in the back when I can watch it live. This is the greatest!” I nodded my agreement and continued watching the entrance. For a second I wondered if Bubba thought I didn’t care about him, when in fact he is another local wrestler and one of my all time favorite tag teams, but this was The Undertaker!

The same spine chilling experience I felt whenever the ‘Taker does a PPV entrance on tv is the same I felt when he did it live. He is that good. This year the match was a casket match, and the ‘Taker maintained his Wrestlemania winning streak making it now 14-0. He did some vintage ‘Taker rope walking, some vintage ‘Taker diving, and some serious ‘Taker tombstoning. I’ve loved his wrestling style ever since that Thanksgiving Survivor Series when he was led out… and will until he hangs up his boots. Thanks for another great match ‘Taker.

Now Mick Foley is a longtime favorite of mine. I’ve met him quite a few times, and have an autographed copy of his book Have A Nice Day. Why do I like him so much? Because HE is a blue collared wrestler… not some hip-hop wannabe. He’s a local boy too, tried and true, who spent a lot of time working his way up. Of course this has all had an effect on his life and body, and he admittedly is not the greatest wrestler but has a high tolerance for pain.

As it turns out, after the match, I have a new found respect for Edge too. He also showed a level of commitment I haven’t seen in him since the TLC (Tables, Ladders, and Chairs) match days when he would face of against the Dudley’s and the Hardy’s with his brother Christian. I was surprised that Mick lost. I was cheering for the flannel wearing fat guy. I still will cheer for the flannel wearing fat guy whenever he comes back.

So why write all this about Wrestlemania XXII? Partially because I want it known that yes, I am a wrestling fan. Now don’t go all preacher on me… I know a lot of it is scripted. In fact, you can see my own PPV debut by watching Summer Slam 2002… I’m the EMT in the blue vest who boarded and collared Shawn Michaels after he was taken out by Triple H with a sledgehammer at the Nassau Coliseum. Once in the back, Michaels was off the board in a minute… so I know its scripted.

Yet, I will also tell you a lot of injuries happen that are serious like Triple H at Survivor Series 2002 that was at MSG. Triple H really did get hurt by RVD in the Elimination Chamber Match. In fact, it was quite serious and the transport was 100% necessary. While I didn’t do the transport, I was stuck at the head of the backboard while everyone else grabbed the feet to try and get him out of the locker room. Luckily Scott Steiner and Chris Jericho helped out… because believe it or not Triple H is bigger in real life than he is on tv.

I have a lot of respect for wrestlers. I appreciate what they do and the fact that they entertain me so. Besides, if it wasn’t for wrestling then what would my father and I ever have in common?

New Designs and a New Tenant
I am thoroughly enjoying my return to the blogosphere. As many of you may have noticed, the blog itself looks different. So yes, I did my re-design. I hope you like it as well. Of course if you don’t like it and tell me then I’ll tell you I really don’t give a hoot so save your pudgy little fingers that typing time. Well it seems I am not the only one on the redesign kick. Matt posted this on his blog today Meltwater. Torrents. Meanderings. Delta.: Blog Templates: I’m Going Back to Blogger Dark Dots. He is actually going to go back to a Blogger Template. Oh the horror!!! Go over there and do something about it NOW!!!

With this as my first day back on the Pile I also have brought in a new roomie. The Rock Bitch is going to be staying the week here. She is currently promoting the newfound blogging ritual GDF. That’s right, forget about HNT or SPT or the ASPCA, the three letters you need to remember for your blog is GDFGet Drunk Friday. Go visit The Rock Bitch and support her in converting blogs across the sphere to her cause. I myself had unwittingly converted… but we all saw how that turned out… and I prefer to be here than have someone else occupy me.

Oh… and remember that thing before about Matt going back to a Blogger template? Well if you didn’t click and read then your a fool… because the whole thing was an April Fool’s post… which is something I totally forgot about today. So happy April Fool’s Day!

When We Were Liars, Things Were Seamless: The Tragic Tale of Pastor Carl
Oh how I have so missed the blogosphere… Monique has a wonderful story about a former love interest at When We Were Liars, Things Were Seamless: The Tragic Tale of Pastor Carl. And then people wonder why I eat steak on Fridays, curse up a storm, and use His name in vain every chance I get. Face it… he doesn’t take care of his own people!!!

The Dead Man killed Big Slick…
Oh, you didn’t know? Well your ass better call somebody… because I am back in the blogosphere!!!

Last night I took my entire paycheck, all whopping $523.17, and demanded in on the poker game where my “little buddy” Dartanion was playing. Technically I was $76.83 short of the minimum buy-in, but my old partner X staked me so I got a seat at the table.

After seven something hours of pushing chips back and forth I was clearly ahead of everyone. I got my hand, the Ace of Spades and the Eight of Clubs. The Dead Man’s Hand. Dartanion called the blind, but I raised, and then he came over the top with an all-in. I know right there I should have folded. This was almost a replay of the St. Patrick’s tournament. Yet, in my heart I had that feeling…

So I went over the top of his all-in by going all-in and putting into the pot my most beloved possession… my truck. I walked in there with the deed just for this moment. Of course he wasn’t putting his Jeep up, so I told him he could put the blogs up and I would consider that of equal worth. He laughed. He actually sat there and laughed at me.

Finally, after he stopped laughing and gave me a minute lecture of how in two weeks he has only made around 87 cents from the sites, he called. He had Big Slick suited for a party, the Ace of Diamonds and the King of Diamonds. Those watching our game either gasped or moaned when I showed my hand, since I was clearly dominated.

The flop came and it was the King of Hearts, the Ace of Clubs, and the Eight of Diamonds. We both had two pair but his was the better hand. The turn came out as the Five of Diamonds. Not only did his pair dominate me, but now he was also on a flush draw. I stood from the table ready to begin the long walk home after my failed bid to re-capture what is rightfully mine. The river card came… and it was red… the Eight of Hearts. For you non-poker educated people out there… that gave me a full house which won it all back.

It seemed to take him a minute to realize it, and slowly his smile faded as the chips, my truck deed, and the passwords to this blog were pushed to my seat. The Dead Man killed Big Slick in more ways than one.

So here I am once again sitting in my rightful seat here on the Pile. I’ve missed you all and want to thank you for your support, especially Luin, Kat, Stephanie, and of course Monique. It was a bit nerve wracking, but thanks to the support from everyone I made it through.

So what lessons have been learned? Well there is the obvious one that B and Izzy were kind enough to point out to me, never bet your blogs in a poker game. Well no duh guys… but I think there is more poignant lesson here. These blogs, those of a personal nature, are not money making machines nor are they a bunch of zeros and ones arranged in a pretty little way for shits and giggles… for they are also a part of our souls and what we put into them will be the level of satisfaction we get out of them. Which is also why I will have no more ads on this blog. Let’s face it… and even the devil knows this… the soul is as priceless as you can get.

Thank you all once again for your support… and now… back to the business of plucking off the meat and sucking out the marrow here on A Pile of Dog Bones.
