So as you can see, from the exuberance of my guest, corporate hypnotism works like a charm on their intended targets. So I thought Kellogs Shrek Cereal only lists 1/2 cup as a serving size… but it actually is 1 cup. I had found this a bit odd, but in hindsight it makes sense now. The portion I misread was the vitamin listing with 1/2 cup of A&D Vitamin Fat Free Milk. Ooops. It still was also quite pricey, $5.00, for the 10.5 ounce size.
The cereal itself tastes more like another brand known as Kix (a brand not YET covered in the Cereal Wednesday Series), even though Shrek is listed as a multi-grain. It totally tasted more like sweetened corn. The marshmallows that were in the cereal were pretty much like evey other brand of cereal marshmallows… in the shapes of crowns and frogs. The educational statement they make is ”Eat Your Greens” on the side of the box… which I found kind of funny because they’re selling a cereal where the green is marshmallows. Does anyone even use the term “greens” anymore for vegetables? It is of course all in preparation for the Dreamworks release of Shrek The Third. So far the previews have promised to deliver the same old charm and antics the first one did, and the second one half-delivered on.
Oddly enough, the special offer for the Shrek Boogie Board that was found on POPS cereal apparently does not include the Shrek Brand itself! There was no token to be found anywhere on the box. Heh. Corporate mongers at their finest.
EDIT: I have been accused by Pudding of not rightfully claiming what is mine. For those wondering… the child in the video is my son. Just in case anyone was wondering.
