Life is full of surprises… and as you saw so am I.

Not quite the Cereal Wednesday you were expecting?  Yeah… me neither.  I guess I should explain…

Twenty-five (25) cereals is A LOT of cereal.  For the most part, I have been both consistent and persistent in doing this… and along the way I also became pretty consistent in how I would do it.  When I started off creating these videos, I tried a different point of view every week.  By my fourth episode I pretty much started using the same setting I used every week.  Some people may like that for its consistency… I actually found it kind of boring.

Cereal Wednesday was never scripted.  Generally what I did is what you saw… and there were times that I ended up just rambling on.  This lead to editing issues where I ran over time which you caught a few times, such as with Grape Nuts.  It also lead to the most inconsistent nature of it… that being the information I presented.

Cereal Wednesday started as something here at the APODB, but to a certain extent I feel it sort of started to define it.  My highest traffic days are, perhaps unsurprisingly, Wednesdays.  That’s not a bad thing… and it certainly gave me something to do for Wednesdays…

Twenty-five (25) cereals is A LOT of cereal.  Its so much… I started to actually become more interested in it.  I found myself reading blogs like Cerealblogger, subscribing to the Kelloggs Company RSS feed, and watching just the cereal companies a little more closely.  Yet… if it wasn’t Wednesday… I didn’t want to mention it because then it would be continuing to have cereal define APODB.

Come fall… the Cereal Wednesday series will continue to be shown here but it will also be shown on its own blog at cerealwednesday.com (not set-up yet which is why it isn’t linked) which will allow me to do other things as well.  When some sort of cereal news hits that I find interesting, then I can post it guilt free.  This will also allow me to better collaborate with people like Tony and Jake… or for that matter any of you who might want to get a big bowl, sit in front of your webcam, and do your own version of Cereal Wednesday (ie Poppy). 

I’ve also created a MySpace profile for Cereal Wednesday.  I know… how could I sell out to the “Evil Empire”?  I’ve noticed over time that the most popular videos I’ve uploaded are the ones that generally have appeared on someone’s MySpace.  They’ve also launched their new video service… so I’ll be trying that out as well.

Cereal Wednesday‘s look will also be changing.  There will no longer be an APODB graphic at the beginning, nor the ”In Focus But Out Of Context” graphic either.  The music is another thing that will be changing… since pretty much every Cereal Wednesday violates something for one reason or another.  There are some other things that will be different, but to be honest I need to try them out.  You’ll see what I mean in the next few weeks…

So yeah… I need a break from the cereal.  At least for the summer.
