I may be a native Californian, where we don’t have cakes called CookiePuss, but my best friend is a native of NYC so I DO know what a CookiePuss is! (The convo where he first mentioned it was pretty funny because I was like WTF are you talking about?)

Hope your birthday was awesome, Dawg… even if you hate it. wink

ROFL @ The Cookie Puss.  That just sounds wrong, lol!  But so adorable...both the cake and your love of it.

Happy belated birthday!!  smiley

Isn’t it awesome that Carvel still exists AND that they still make the Cookie Puss???  I love your mom for getting it for you because the smile on your face in that picture says it all!

I hope you enjoyed every bite and didn’t have to share to much of it because I would have grabbed it and RAN!!!!!

Birthdays can be fun if you let them.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAWG!

It’s about time to start enjoying your birthday again, I think.  And what better way than with that cake?

Poppy

(Becky, you just made me cry.)

I agree with Avi.  I am making it my personal mission to get you to enjoy your birthday within the next 31 years because I know by default you’ll love your birthday when you turn 65.  tongue wink

Note to self: put Cookie Puss on wishlist 2009

And I still LOVE YOUR birthday! wink

Hoppy hoppy berfday.

I love the word “cookie” and I love the word “puss”.  Put them together and you may have the world’s best compound noun.

Sugar I truly hope you come to enjoy your birthday.

My hubby totally misses having a Cookie Puss for his birthday now that we live on the West Coast.  I have to sub a Dairy Queen cake and it just isn’t the same!

Plus, we totally need a Friendly’s restaurant out here.

Happy Belated Birthday!

As someone who hates their birthday (have since my great-g’ma died on my sweet 16), I totally get where you are coming from.  It’s just been the past few years that I’ve decided getting older is better than the alternative.

Cake looks awesome - may you have many many happy birthdays in the future!

I remember Tom Carvel’s gravelly voice on his TV commercials, saying “Cookie Puss”.
He really was funny, and not a pro at all when it came to making TV ads.
But he made a hella good ice cream cake!

Happy Birthday, Dawg!

Happy (belated) birthday!  My sister’s is July 4th but we’re taking her out today (July 6th) to celebrate.  Brunch buffet at a restaurant and then coffee & cake at home.  Sadly, no Cookie Puss for her! (We got a raspberry red velvet cake because none of us have ever had it before and we wanted to try it.) I hope we enjoy it as much as you enjoyed your Cookie Puss!

Happy belated birthday! And I’m glad you got to enjoy it by eating some pussy....er, cookiepuss cake!!!  grin

Happy birthday, anyway, Dawg.  Birthdays are awesome when you have someone to give you presents (Poppy, for instance).  I still like mine and I think I’m a lot older than you.

Winter- A state without the ability to get CookiePuss shouldn’t be a state!  Or at least their governing officials should be drawn and quartered!  It is a basic human right to get CookiePuss!!!  You poor thing…

Blondeblogger- The CookiePuss rawks… and you know it!

TheBL- Yes she does!

Hellohahanarf- Yes, can’t wait for next year… so the Poppy can get some CookiePuss!!!!!

Lisa- Sadly… CookiePuss met his complete demise at breakfast time… so there was no running when my brother was guarding the freezer door.

Miss Britt- Yeah… the shirt is killer… I think my mom wants one too.

Melissa- He is a cutie isn’t he?  With those big saucer eyes… and that delicious waffle cone nose…

Hilly- Thanks Hilly!!!  The cake is killer… right?

Avitable- I’m all about the cake!!! Not so much the reason for the cake… but definitely all about the cake!!!

Poppy- Uh oh… a Poppy on a mission is a Poppy who shall not be denied!  I just want the check… and the CookiePuss.

DutchBitch- He should have been on your wishlist from the get-go girl!  (Hey, is there Carvel in Dutchyland?)

Morgetron- Yes… I agree… except for when the CookiePuss crumbs make me itch… LOL

Turnbaby- Maybe… with a few more CookiePusses and a Poppy its a definite possibility.

Colleen- OMG… I know his pain!  DQ just is NOT a substitution for the CookiePuss.

Fantastagirl- This is very true… I never looked at it that way… so very true.

DeppFan- Tom sucked at the commercials… but his ice cream is killer.

Sour- While Red Velvet cake is delish… I still don’t think I could compare it to the CookiePuss… he’s just THAT awesome.

Evil Genius- Thanks!  Yeah… I’m all about the CookiePuss… and its surnamesake.  wink

Shelli- Eh, I don’t really live for the presents anymore… but I am looking forward to that Social Security check!!!

I don’t really need them either, but it’s nice to know someone thought about you.  I guess what I am trying to say is that it’s the thought that counts.  Huh.  I think I have heard that somewhere before.

I gotcha Shelli… I gotcha… and I think I heard about that thought thing before too!!!

Car?What?

I guess not…

comment by DutchBitch  on  07/07  at  12:06 PM

I really appreciate this post.  I grew up having a Carvel Ice Cream Cake (just the one that had vanilla & chocolate with the chocolate crunchies in between) for my birthday every year… I mean, without an ice cream cake is it really a birthday???  I also experienced something like you in that my Nana died about 10 minutes before my 24th birthday… just a little over a year after my mother died.  So yeah… no ice cream cake that year or the year after.  I also smiley smiley smiley your mom for getting you a cookie puss for your birthday this year.  And somehow… all I can hear in my head is the cookie puss voice!!!  Happy Belated birthday!
