I used to love Scrye, but I have to be honest. I haven’t read it in about 10 years. Still sad though.
I always hated InQuest.
I never saw Scrye, I’m not sure if it was available over here or not.
i’m not one for gaming much anymore, although now I come to think of it we’re starting up a new game next month, but i still morn the loss of a mag called Arcane which used to be published over here in the mid to late 90s.
It seems the gaming industry isn’t doing too well at the moment. My own FLGS of choice has virtually cut all of it’s games from the shelf and only sells CCG and comics now.
That is brilliant - lick slam suck - i mean
what time is the show and can i follow you on twitter also
I was so shocked when they discontinued Dragon and Dungeon. I have a box full of back issues of Dragon and Dungeon. Too bad about Scrye.
Sorry to hear it’s going away (Scrye). I have never seen it or heard of it (soo not a gamer!), but I get your disappointment!
Lick. Slam. Suck. rocks!
Aww.. that sucks! My freelancing gig is also on hold due to the economy but hopefully it will pick up and they will take me back soon!
Looks like the slumping economy is hitting the old greats now.. On this same day, MAD magazine has cancelled it’s spin-offs and was reduced from monthly to quarterly… I don’t give them more than two more years at that rate.
Unfortunately, this “Lick Slam Suck” thing does not appear to appeal to me.
I wanted to write this yesterday but the day got away from me after the train arrived.
I am sorry your first writing gig’s company is closing, it makes me sad for you, but happy for you that you got to be a part of it.
I am not liking the feeling of all the entertainment places closing. We truly are entering a Great Depression, in all senses of the term.
> We truly are entering a Great Depression,
> in all senses of the term.
Oh come on. There is a difference between a recession and a depression. Moreover, comparing the current global economic status to the largest depression in modern history is a bit of a stretch, don’t you think?
Dawg: I do know about Scrye—my friends had copies way back in elementary school. I’m a bit surprised that stuff like CCGs are still in business, though. To be honest, my view towards CCGs is that they’re one of the biggest scams for unsuspecting children. It’s unbelievable how much a company can markup what are essentially glorified pieces of cardboard. Moreover, the constant expansions cause players to either keep up (and pay up) or quit.
I spent quite a bit of pocket change on SW:CCG when I was a child. Now I know better, but that doesn’t help me rid myself of the boxes of useless cards I have stowed in the closet.
I didn’t say we’re ankle-deep in it. I said we’re entering it. Things are going to get far worse before better. You think the stimulus package is going to fix everything? It’s not.
And what the hell did I do to you today?
Aw, sorry to hear that dude. Never read that magazine, but used to read Dragon. Haven’t played any RPG’s in a long time, though. Not since I entered college.
I’ve never made it into the gaming world… I have a pretty addictive personality so I lucked out by getting addicted to work and stuff so I could always pay the bills. If I let myself get into games I wouldn’t be able to build the life I want.
