I’m glad she’s ok. This time.

Keep being there. That’s all you can do.

And boyz suck. Except you. But you’re a Dawg, so it’s ok.

Can stress make you bleed internally????

I’m really glad she’s ok, and that X dealt with stupidass so you could focus on Lollipop, because she needed you.  You are an awesome friend to do all that for her.

Britt, I’m obviously not a doctor, but I’ve seen stress make people have some pretty serious physical manifestations.

comment by Poppy  on  01/11  at  08:19 AM

Glad she decided to stay.  Internal bleeding is nothing to mess with.

And yes, OMG yes, boys suck and are not worth the stress we inevitably put ourselves through for them.

Dawg, you’re a wonderful friend and I’m glad you were there for her.

Poppy, I too have seen serious physical manifestations from stress.  Our oldest son, who at the time, was only 24, suffered a horrible bout with diverticulitis.  Similar kind of thing as Lollipop.  If there is GI bleeding, get thee to the hospital!

Yikes!  I hope Lollipop (aka Beaner) will be OK.  I hope she gets lots of rest.  You’re right, boys are not worth stressing over.

Stress can do strange things to the body and I can’t say I’ve ever started bleeding internally from my stress, but my body has freaked out several times and made me think I was dying (heart attack).  Stress is not good for any of us.

Geeky, I’ve spent the day in the emergency room with a few family members over stress.  My dad has almost bled out before from conditions resulting from stress.  Watching others (and myself) be so stressed that it makes us that sick has taught me to just be a little more laid back about life in general.  Got me a clean bill of health at the doctor’s office the other day!

Stress can do all sorts of nasty things. Like cause a bottle of tequila to appear in my hand.

Most boys aren’t worth stressing over, but we do it anyway. When we aren’t throwing rocks at them, that is.

comment by Monique  on  01/11  at  10:12 AM

We love you, Avi (I will probably always call you Avi, accent on the “i”, because that’s all I’ve known.  It feels weird to call you “Adam"), but we’re not going to stress over you.  That’s your wife’s job ;0)

Poppy, our son does fairly well when he takes his meds.  It’s when he gets the notion that he doesn’t need them anymore that he ends up in big trouble and in the hospital.

I’m so happy to hear that you got a clean bill of health!

Stress is a killer!

Thanks, Geeky.  And thanks for saying what I would have said to Avi if I could have gotten the sputtering in my head to come out my fingers. wink

Seriously, if the boy is stressing her that bad, maybe she should ditch the guy.  Sorry, I know he is your friend and all, but it just doesn’t seem worth it.

I mean, sometimes my husband stresses me out, but I don’t get hospitalized over it. wink

Dawg, you are such a good friend and great guy.

Never underestimate what stress can do to the body...it’s even been linked to cancer.

I got a bleeding ulcer from entering Stress City back about 10 or so years ago.  Lots of little purple pills and 3 endoscopies later, it went away and I got unstressed.  It involved my mother, go figure.

It sucks but the thing is we don’t really know we’re stressed until something bad happenes a lot of times.  Truly, I did not know I was stressed out til I stopped being stressed out.

Hopefully she’ll get over the dude pronto quick.  Just tell her while Cream Of Wheat isn’t bad every now and then, it sucks when it’s all you can eat without dying.

Have you spoken to the ‘boy’ in question or are you staying the hell out of that part and just lending her a shoulder?  I’d be interested in what’s going on in his head.

OMG! I am so sorry to hear she’s in hospital. I think you are probably right in everything you are contemplating about this, but more importantly you are a great friend to her.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes and concern.  Good news is that she’s out, and it looks like no permanent damage was done and it is in fact a very small and healable ulcer for which they gave her medication that should get it done in about six months.

Unfortunately, this does not resolve her stress levels… but after a “Come to Dawg” session with her SO… I believe her stress levels will decrease.

Time will tell.

Thanks again!!!

She is lucky to have a great friend like you!
AND? Boys are SO not worth stressing over...however, that is what girls do!!

So Lollipop’s okay.

Was going to ask whether the blood was bright red or dark and tarry looking.  The difference in colour can tell you sooo much.

I’m with you ... stress induced.

Although, most GI ulcers are caused by a bacteria called Helicobacter Pylori - in case you were wondering.

Also, let Lollipop know she shouldn’t take any Asprin or Ibuprofen while she has that ulcer ... both these drugs will encourage bleeding.
