Well, I hope I’m not dead and/or floating in the ocean by the time ou come back.  Take care of you, my friend.  I’ll be around a lot more spordically myself but I’ll be here chilling, until we all fall off....doobie doo.

I’ve enjoyed reading you for many years… sorry to see you are closing the comments - and will leave you in the feed reader for when you come back.  (I know I don’t comment often - but I read when you post.)

Whew! I was hoping I’d get the chance to post one last comment until the new platform!  However, I get the time restraints. Take care of you (and Poppy) and I’ll be waiting patiently for the smattering of mah favorite Dawg

I will be eagerly awaiting this blog’s new incarnation...and you know, maybe I need to work on mine a bit.  I have some legacy feature built into my theme that date back to WP 1.5… probably time to modernize.

I always enjoy reading what you have to say.  Even if your postings are sporadic, I’ll stay tuned for them when they arrive.

I’m glad you’re sticking around.

I’ve only just started meeting fellow blogger’s over the last couple of years - and have very much enjoyed it.  It’s interesting how the borders between friendships such as distance are just melting away in this new age.

Sporadic posts are why feedreaders were invented. grin

But - um - your comments are closed.  Because HERE I AM!!

I’m so confused.

Dear DOOCE, I am equally as madly in love with you and support your decision to turn off comments so I don’t have to have to read about how badly my essays suck without an essay writing service.

If there is anything I can help you with in switching blog platforms please let me know.

Smoochies!!!,
Your Popstar

Poppy just cracked me up.

I’m glad you’re not going anywhere. We need smart people around here. Even if we can’t talk back…

What about only opening your comments for your most recent post and then closing it a month later?

comment by Avitable  on  03/18  at  10:17 AM

iw as going to suggest what adam did...have comments on for a few weeks, then slam em shut.

regardless, i enjoy your blog and am selfishly thankful that you aren’t shutting it down.  without a doubt i can appreciate the time being a precious commodity, but still sometimes it just feels good to sit down with an old friend like your blog and write.

all the best,

becky

I understand about the closing of comments.  I’m on the latest release of WP and get my fair share of spam, but all of it gets caught either by Askimet or using the WP feature of having first time users needed approval first, which catches everyone else.

Looking forward to seeing the reincarnation of this blog and hoping comments will be part of that reincarnation.

Hilly- Well, I’m still here, but not nearly as much as I would like to be. It’s a time thing… and a spam thing… so hopefully I’ll get it fixed before California sinks on December 21, 2012… but you’ll still be able to find me in FarmVille!

Fantastagirl- It’s a temporary solution to a growing problem I’m seeing… hopefully I’ll be able to resolve it sooner than later.

usedtobeme- Yeah… I thought about that… like, how fucked up would it be to write a post saying I’m closing comments and not allow comments on that! If anything deserves a comment, it’s something having to do with commenting. I think that makes sense. Or maybe not. wink

Iron Fist- Therein lies my real problem… this isn’t WordPress but WordPress is what I happen to know best.

Dan- It is completely amazing the borders that are being crossed and the ideas being exchanged. While we may not be ready for socialized medicine, the medic I met from the NHS (?) has me sold on the green jumpsuit.

Miss Britt- Gawd Bless the Feedreader! For without it, I would be lost! While I am quite proficient at confusion, or have you never truly read one of my blog posts and have been pretending this entire time?

Poppy- *GASP* How could you utter She Who Shall Not Be Named in my comments!!!

But I smiley you the most!

Finn- You can try to talk back… but I think at some point screaming at your computer screen will be reason enough to call the bakers in… therefore until I fix the spammy problem, there is always Twitter (the service, not the cat)

Avitable- Yeah, with WP you can do that relatively easily… unfortunately with EE not so much. smiley

Hola Hoho Snarf- Yeah, this blog is quite the old friend as it is… it would be like sending my 5th birthday pony to the glue factory when I turned 6. That is if I was 5. And got a pony.

Marty- WP has definitely improved both their spam filters and their security over the years… so whereas I was cutting edge way back when… well… now I’m the one outdated and vulnerable. Of course the task at hand is to import everything from here to… well… here but under a WP install. It may take a little while… but I’ll get there… eventually.

I have always enjoyed reading your blog for the simple reason that you have always given me food for thought (I am all about the non-fattening food!) I will miss popping in, but I hope I can find you wherever you eventually plant your feet.

Seeing as how I’m sporadic (at best) at reading blogs, I totally relate. I’ve contemplated closing comments before, but screw it. I feel too strongly about having the interactivity on my blog.

I am in the process of redesigning it, though. I get bored easily and can’t wait for something new.

comment by SecondHand Karl  on  03/30  at  10:27 AM

Please don’t close your comments.  I love them and am willing to put up with spam leaking through to get them.

That’s really important to finish the high quality dance essays or essays connected with this good post to have the best mark at the university.

To compose the writing thesis related to this good post is not effortless but you deal with this. When any writer is as good as you are, students would never have any problems with the dissertation writing.

Thank you a lot for the very hot information close to this topic. Could you assist to search for the custom thesis service or professional dissertation writing to order the dissertation thesis from?
