What would bring me home?  Honestly?  I don’t think anything.  Well, I’m assuming that I have my furbabies.  Other than that, nothing.

My children are old enough to be out of the house. My parents are still in good shape. I guess nothing. I’d like to think I’d be able to regard something like that as a new chapter in my life.

I was still living in Houston when Hurricane Rita came on.  I was part of that horrible nightmare of people trying to evacuate the city.  It took us 34 hours to make a 9 hour trip and it was the single worst experience of my life.

But, we went home when it was done.  And I wish I was still there.  I love that place.

Until my children are old enough to be grown and gone (which is coming faster than I ever imagined) they would be the only thing I would rush home too. After that, there would be nothing and believe me, once we get to that point, my ass is outta this hell hole state for good. I don’t know where to, and I don’t care either - my plan isn’t to run home, it is to run away from home in a big hurry.

The kitties. but I could just as easily scoop them up and relocate.

I’m obviously learning that “home” is where the people are - not a dot on a map.

Now, aside from that -

LISTEN HERE!  I know you want a hurricane so you’ve got some shitz to do.  But will you PLEASE stop beckoning the waves and rain and wind and shit THIS way?!!?

Dude.  Some of us are NEW to the area, remember?!

I don’t know that anything would bring me home to Vegas once I’ve left.  I’m leaving this city for a reason, I can’t think of one that would bring me back.

I’m going to make a new home wherever I land and if I don’t like Louisville, I’m trying somewhere else.  I’ve finally found the courage to go where I think is best for me.

I would however, go running to Temple GA if somewhere were to happen to mom, brother SIL or nephews.  Thankfully in Louisville, I won’t be a whole continent away from them smile

Donna

my original home is in Newfoundland...and relatives or no, NOTHING would make me go there again.

However, my home is w/the Mr.  I have no fucking clue what I’d do if something happened to my home.  None.

I have a great (affordable) college here.  Other than that, I’m begging to leave.

I’m with Poppy..... home is where the cats are.

If I remember correctly, my one and only meal of frog legs was in New Orleans!

Nice deep question.  Family is #1, then friends (the ones I have, not the TV series), I guess the other things like work (which I love) and eateries and pool are all replace-able at a new place.  I’ve been in Austin 21 years now and have no desire to learn another place or get something new.

So maybe just the familiarity, security and safety would bring me home.

KG- Furbabies are totally understandle… except Teddy… All Your Teddy Are Belong To Us.

Metalmom- Yeah… that’s definitely one way to look at it.

Lucy- I liked Houston for the 3 hours I was there… I could live there… or Lufkin.

Heartless- I know what you mean… there are other weather patterns than hot, hotter, and hottest.

Poppy- Have kitties… will travel!  I’m with you on that one… the kitties are necessary.

Britt- I still need Florida and Georgia to complete my “Gulf Coast Tour”.  I want to do a job in the streets of ATL and I want to do a full trauma immobilization and exposure of Donald Duck in front of Cinderelli’s Castle… sorry.

Soda- I think I’m more excited about you moving than you are… even if it is to Kentucky and not New York… wink

Miss Ann- Then you are truly blessed… or cursed… depending of course on what your home has done to you today… but I totally understand that… more so than I may let on.

Brandi- Affordability is definitely a factor… but if there’s a better opportunity, then there’s a better opportunity… right?

Joe- Unfortunately when I was in NOLA the beer was warm and the food of choice was Military MRE Meal #16… the Chicken Enchilada Surprise.  But I also agree… Poppy knows best…

Wayne- There definitely is something for the “known” as opposed to the “unknown"… more so than I think most of us realize.

When you drive by San Francisco, you’re totally going to have to come by my house so you can meet and greet Teddy.  But I’ll be checking your backpack before you leave...heh.

That’s cause I’ll be in the same time zone as you are, that’s why you’re so excited rasberry

I have noticed a trend where a lot of my friends are envious that I’m doing this and are living vicariously through me.

I’m OK with that :D

If it weren’t for my grandkids & daughter, I’d totally be far far away on a desert island.

BTW - I don’t know how you feel about awards, but you’ve been awarded irregardless.

Mr. Incredible, Pan & Tink are what brings me home every night....

If not for them, I think I could get in the car and just drive.... and end up where ever I end up.  Which is very scary, very.
