I never played D&D but it’s no doubt that he revolutionized gaming.

I was wondering if you were going to post about this.

Very sad, but… that damn mortality thing cannot save even the master.

Thank goodness you appreciate quirky.

1974 was a very good year.

I always thought that the creator of D&D couldn’t have a better name than “Gygax”.  Sounded like a troll king or something.

Played my share of D&D back in the early 80’s, and more than my share of Magic: The Gathering in the early-mid 90’s.  Gary Gygax was chiefly responsible for all of that fun.  RIP.

The man was responsible for a lot of fun in my life.  And the opportunity to make a lot of my friends too.

I, like many, was saddened by the news of his passing.  However, since hearing it, I’ve been flashbacking on many of the fun times I had because of him.  I’m envious that you got a chance to meet him but I’m so happy to hear you describe him as ‘cool’.  I had a feeling he might be.  I mean, how could he not?

Where’s a good cleric with a regeneration spell when you need one?

Avi- Yes, he did in fact.

Poppy- Yes, 1974 was a good year…

Mutt Royalty- Yes… definitely.

B.E. Earl- Yes… he was by far and large the biggest inspiration for both Garfield and Weisman who in turn provided further inspiration to the current designers in the industry.

Dan- I agree… many friends were made over character generation… and a few friends were lost when saving throws were failed.

sourpuss- He was definitely cool in all matters of the sense.  He reminds me of one of those icons who just didn’t know they were an icon… or didn’t care.  Like Ghandi.

Jake Titus- Well… Regeneration would do jack at this point… but a good Raise Dead would come in handy… and actually it would come in handy quite a bit.
