So Brian Clark over at CopyBlogger announced that he is once again holding a Twitter Writing Contest. The prize for the winner is an Air Mac. Sweet sweet Air Mac. The focus of the contest? The ancient Japanese form of poetry called haiku.
Now I’m not a poet… but I mean c’mon… I can do a Haiku! 5 syllables one line, then 7 syllables, and then another 5 syllables of non-rhyming words should be simple! Right?
So of course I entered. Here’s what I came up with:
Copyblogger is so great
Need Macbook Air To Write Late
No Fail Whale For Me
Anyone see a problem? Well I originally counted the syllables like this:
Copy•blog•ger is so great
Need Mac•book Air To Write Late
No Fail Whale For Me
I’m pretty sure now… after this nagging in the back of my mind that it really should be like this:
Copy•blog•ger is so gr•eat
Need Mac•book Air To Write Late
No Fail Whale For Me
So obviously writing a Haiku is beyond me.
Haiku Fail.
If it isn’t beyond you… then you should definitely check out the contest.
