If you’ve been looking at my photoblog you may have noticed a change in the photos. Then again, maybe you haven’t…

What is the change you ask? All of the pictures above were taken with my new Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12.2 MP Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens. It’s been a pretty long time coming… and I probably spent WAY too much time actually researching which camera I should pick. The truth is, there are alot of choices out there and I wanted three very specific things. I wanted a camera that could be as simple as a point and shoot. I wanted a camera that could easily be converted to complete manual operation for when I get those old school “film” moments. I wanted a camera that would have lens versatility. This Canon does all these things, and most importantly the price was right.
So over the course of about three weeks, I’ve already taken over 600 photos. Now quite a few of them were experiments as I get the feel for the camera… but as you can see quite a few of them came out pretty good. I’m still using the kit’s 18-55mm lens… but hopefully I’ll be able to get a few more lenses like a nice 300mm zoom and a 50mm with a nice low f-stop. I should also put a macro lens on my list… but the truth is I’m not that into abstract or macro photography. Finn and Britt have great eyes for that kind of stuff… I’m just a dabbler at best.
So yeah, I got a new camera. Want to help me put it to good use? Vote for my Dream Assignment!!!
