Today I get to stamp a 3 month long project as being DONE!
Just like on my favorite home improvement show Monster House!!!
Sorta.
See, that 3 month long project I originally figured would take a week or two. I figured after that week or two, I could take a week break and start on the REAL project. As you may be able to tell, my time estimation was just a little bit off.
I mean really, what’s a month… or three.
Newsflash: It’s a lifetime. Or at least it sure seemed that way.
So where of course does this leave me for the NEXT project?
Yeah, that’s me, behind the 8-ball on it. Best laid plans and all that…
But I’m not worried about it.
Really.
Shit happens, circumstances change, the wind that was blowing one way starts blowing the other, and I’ve learned that you can’t sweat the small stuff… and ultimately it is ALL small stuff.
Otherwise you’ll get stressed and go insane.
Life’s too short for that… of this, I assure you.
So where does this really leave me?
The big thing is it leaves me signing up for a refresher. My plans of retiring from EMS after 15 years are just not feasible from both a financial standpoint and a what I’ll do now standpoint.
It’s really not as bad as it sounds though. My humping through the hallowed streets in a bus is down to around twice a month. My office still has a big bay window with changing scenery. I think to a certain degree I’m becoming immune to the eternal ambient stupidity that perpetuates due to the constant cycle of New Jack EMTs at the garage. To a larger extent, I don’t feel as embattled as I used to. What’s three more years?
In the end, it’ll be all good.
Of this, I assure myself.
