Live From The 4th Floor… It’s Saturday Night

And I am fucking exhausted.

Really now.  Today was a little bit over the top even for me… and for a few reasons.  Allow me to explain.

Thursday night when I got home from work I was supposed to pack up the computer desk.  Instead… I had a conversation first with Squishy Poppy and then with Squishy Dawg.  Needless to say… it didn’t get packed.

Then last night, not only did I need to pack that desk… I needed to pack my clothes and all my “loose ends”.  I have to be honest… I didn’t expect to have so many damn loose ends.  Touch decisions had to be made:

Absinthe comes.
Mechwarrior stays.
Wine comes.
Unopened Playboy magazines from this past year stays.

Sure as hell I made those decisions this morning as the movers arrived under the absolute worst humidity ever that had me soaked in sweat just from thinking about the move.  Now I have to be honest… professional movers were not in the original game plan… but obviously the game plan had to be altered a bit considering the conditions underwhich I am now living.

Thank God I am lazy.

These guys moved not only the bed and the wardrobe, but a whole bunch of boxes and the computer desk too.  It took them 3 hours.  It would have taken us 3 months.  Yeah… I’m not joking.

What’s the killer?  The six flight walk-up to our new apartment is a bit much on my old bones.  Doing it daily when its just me is really not that bad… doing it multiple times a day with heavy ass boxes is a killer.  Imagine trying to move my bed?  Yeah… exactly… not so much.

Of course… life would not be adventurous if it wasn’t for the “girls”.  See… we didn’t move them with the movers otherwise a) They would run out of the apartment at some point and b) They would be seen by other tenants in a building where they really aren’t quite supposed to be.  So the plan was to move them over later.

Later just happened to be when the remnants of Hurricane Hannah wandered through the area.  Double parked in the middle of the street, with a torrential downpour soaking my already sweat filled shirt, and there I am trying to hide to pussies in a box from the neighbors.  Luckily… none saw them… but one neighbor did see the litter box.  To that end, having cats is like smoking pot from a bong.  I may have the paraphanelia… but you gotta catch me using it to prove anything.

So yeah… that’s where we’re at right now.  Unfortunately… cable/phone/internet doesn’t arrive until Friday.  So this week we’ll probably be a little bit on the lighter side of being online.  I view this as not a total necessary evil… because there is still a shitload of boxes to unpack.
