I am seriously at a tipping point.
Maybe its because its the time of month when my hormones get all wacky. Maybe its because this weather has me worn down. Maybe its because I am still seeking some sort of internal balance that never existed. Maybe its because no matter how many times I see someone take their final trip… it always hits harder when its someone you actually know. Maybe its because I’ve kept things like this held back and pent up in the greater interest of keeping peace that at this point the pot has finally tipped.
I am talking about ranting, raving, and ripping into people who act with obnoxiously self-absorbed ambient stupidity.
So here’s the deal… if you want everything to be sunshine, rainbows, and unicorns then click here.
If you’ve strapped yourself in with your shit helmet on, are over the age of 18, and understand the following may not be safe for work then you can continue on in the extended post…
I have a serious issue with bloggers who will spam the comments of blogs looking for links. Besides the fact that it is just plain rude to leave a comment asking for a linkback instead of searching for contact information, I just find it very “spammy”. What I despise even more are people who leave these spammy comments on posts that they don’t even read. Like this ambiently stupid asshat who left this comment on a post about the end of a life for someone the blogger identifies with and admires:
Hi,
I love your blog and I think you would appreciate my sense of humor. If I link to your blog on my blog is there any way you could return the favor? I think we could both get more exposure!
Check it out:

Thanks so much

Can we say shithead? Yeah… I think we just did collectively. But hey, I’m fair, and I went to his blog. He does not post his contact information so I was forced to leave a comment myself that read this:
Hi Scott,
I have it from a very reliable source that you are an asshat of the highest order. I understand that you left a comment advertising your “sense of humor” on a blogpost about a terminally ill blogger. Read blogs much or do you just SPAM them? That is an act of what I consider to be ambient stupidity and be assured that there will be plenty of people hearing about it.
As for those people who might think to link to you, you really should think again. Blogging is not about “links”. It is about relationships… and Scotty here obviously doesn’t have a clue as to have a proper one… so there will be a hell raising and you may want to stay clear of it lest you be burned in the fire as well.
Have a nice day.
Guess what? He deleted it. Then he enabled comment moderation. Big surprise there.
This guy is a typical amateur who probably bought one of those stupid e-books on blogging that suggest you do this. What’s even more amateurish is that he has threatened legal action against a blogger who happened to post his e-mail address, scottesolomon@gmail.com, with some bogus “lawyer friend” from reportedly New York City.
Oh shit.
That’s where I am!
I better not post that e-mail address of scottesolomon@gmail.com that may get added to every spammer list on the interwebz or I might get an e-mail that says something like this:
The way these blogs are designed, you have to enter your email address in order to post a comment on a blog. This email address is used solely to verify the person posting is real and voluntarily contributing to this blog. Submitting this email address does not give the blog owner the right to use this submitter’s email address or publicize it in a public forum.
Publicizing private information about an individual who wishes to remain private is unlawful. Although Scott posted on your blog, he went through certain lengths to keep his real identity private from the rest of the world. By lifting this “cloak” so to speak, you are thrusting him into the limelight without his permission. Additionally he told me he requested you take his email address down and you refused.
Actually that isn’t true for three reasons: 1) There are no privacy guarantees made by the blogger, only the software 2) How does one go about verifying exactly who the “real” person is behind the e-mail address? Right… no real way to do it… it isn’t like GMail or AOL are checking driver’s licenses and 3) He clearly states that he wants ”more exposure” in his comment… so now he’s getting it!!! He asked for it!!! And you want to sue for that???
Now I’ll be honest, I would normally not have posted an e-mail address of scottesolomon@gmail.com… but he deleted my comment… therefore he destroyed MY copyrighted works. I hope I get an e-mail from this lawyer he has… because I will be forwarding that to my lawyer who happens to have a shitload of free time on his hands since Lehman Brothers closed and could use the billing hours.
So in conclusion, dear Scott, I highly suggest that before you leave a comment you actually read the post and maybe even contribute to the conversation taking place as opposed to broadcasting your intentions. Don’t worry… I linked to you… you may see a little traffic… but that traffic will fade with time because instead of building lasting relationships you chose to spam. I highly suggest you rethink your strategy… and your blog design.
With all that said… and me feeling good enough to go sleep… I offer you the obligatory Peace and Love…
